2023 Montford Challenge Row
two crews travelled to Shrewsbury for this tough challenge row..

Well done to our two Aberdyfi crews - a Mixed and a Ladies team- who took part in the Montford Challenge row on Saturday, March 25th.

Mixed crew were Mary, Tracey, Kevin, Peter and Jo.

Ladies were  Izzy, Isabel, Elin, Amanda and Livvy

This is always a tough challenge and this year was no exception.  Our crews both did really well with the Mixed team winning the Mixed category and were first overall veterans.

The challenge row is in two stages - the first stage is an 8 mile time trial upstream on the River Severn from Pengwern Rowing Club in the centre of Shrewsbury to finish at the most northerly point of the Severn 'North Pole'

The second stage is a 6 mile time trial downstream back to Shrewsbury to finish at Pengwern Rowing Club.

Isabel, our ladies captain, said," Everyone who rowed today gave everything they had!  An extremely tough race and an amazing result for the mixed team !"

" Our ladies team rowed really well , we were a lot quicker on the second leg coming back downstream.  It was really hard for all on the first stage rowing against the very strong currents and all in all we were in the boat for nearly 5 hours!  Hard work , but we did it and really gave it our all!  Many thanks for the great hospitality at Pengwern and congrats to everyone who took part ."
